Infomation
The challenge was to bring a nostalgic feel of 20th-century water parks to Roosevelt Aquatic Center's water park, built by combining old and new elements, in a classic style refreshed with modern materials and many useful applications. The project was built by architect Williams of Carol Stream, IL, the Glenview Park District in the United States, and WINAM working together.
The play set is designed with a domed building structure and interactive play features such as water sprays and a dome with pink LED lights mounted on top of a cluster of glowing lights, the focal point of the area. A water curtain system around it adds liveliness and freshness, easing the harsh summer sun. The whole play area both suits the overall look of the grounds and supports group games such as mock battles and fort defense.
The play set means a lot to children and residents in the area, serving as a family gathering spot and a place to meet friends on active weekends.
