On April 1, 2017, Bobbejaanland park opened in Lichtaard, Belgium. The theme of the park is inspired by the Belgian singer and entertainer Bobbejaan Schoepen, who was active around the 1960s. It is one of the most famous amusement parks in the BENELUX region and in the border area between France and Germany. The park gathers more than 40 attractions, including a water playground, a flat playground, a themed playground and a juggling performance area.
The newest attraction of this park sits right at the main entrance: a multi-faceted climbing playground made of many interwoven ropes and treehouses spread across 500 square meters.
Each element in the playground is combined in its own way. The place appeals to all ages. The mix of warm reddish-brown posts, pastel green, beige ropes and bamboo panels makes the playground blend into nature.
The most eye-catching feature of this playground is the treehouse more than 5m high. It sits above a pentagon-shaped rope net that rises like a giant antenna. The net is the only way up.
These nets give children plenty of space to climb together without tangling. Parents can watch their children from any position and any angle. Climbing helps children improve spatial thinking and motor skills. Wondergarden is no longer just about play. It is also a place where children move, step away from computer and phone screens, and train to become healthier.
From the launch pad, a low net made of many components, children can easily come and play with their peers. Besides two large nest swings and a balance beam, you can also find a small treehouse in the Greenville architectural style supplied by WINAM, a notable feature thanks to its design that combines nature and people. Unlike the tall treehouse standing in the middle of the site, this Greenville hut is only about 1 meter high and is easy for children to use. Connected to the hut is a simple rope net, a more feasible option for children still getting used to balancing and climbing on ropes.
Wondergarden is the playground that captured the interest of visitors coming here. "Because we have Bobbejaanland's seasonal play pass, our family visits this park about 30 times a year. Our children really love this Wondergarden playground. Here they can freely run, climb and leave all their stress behind," shared Patrich Haines enthusiastically, father of two daughters aged 6 and 7.
